The Story Behind Lessons From the Son
Tony Riccardi started podcasting with Nino as a way of capturing his son’s interest to engage meaningful and intelligent conversations. The two experimented with ideas of talking about professional baseball, youth athletics, philosophy, movies and life’s stories. Just on a whim, they came up with “Talking 10”, named for Nino’s age at the time of the first recording. Nino’s “gift of gab” and his willingness to share his opinions publicly made for easy flowing conversations and the two had instant great on-air chemistry. Tony was shocked by how many life lessons that Nino retained throughout his years and how Nino ended up teaching HIM valuable tidbits each episode. As a result, in January 2022, they relaunched their podcast and renamed their podcast to “Lessons From the Son.” In 2021, their podcast was heard in 12 different countries and 16 different US states.
Meet Your Hosts
Playing youth baseball, listening to rock music, playing the drums, and training is how Nino spends most of his time when he’s not in school. Never afraid of the big stage, Nino enjoys performing live music for crowds whether its singing or providing a drum beat for the band. Eating fine food, listening to comedy and watching most professional sports are a few of his favorite hobbies. He enjoys spending time with his family and his favorite cities are Miami (where he lives) and NYC (where his Pops grew up.) Nino roots for the NY Mets, Miami Heat and the NY Giants. Nino speaks Spanish from his mother’s Peruvian family and he is an avid book reader.
Nino’s aspirations are to become a major league baseball player and an entrepreneur.
As a huge sports and music fan, Tony spends most of his free time coaching youth baseball, watching professional sports, working out, playing basketball and spending time with his family and friends. Tony got his career started early in the medical field at the age of 19 while he attended Hofstra University in NY and graduated with a Psychology degree.
After working as executive in the medical cost containment field for 16 years, Tony and his business partner founded their own business. After 7 years of rapid growth, they sold their business to a private equity backed firm and continue to lead the business they founded. With a Psychology background and as a self-made business owner, Tony has always sought a vehicle to share his life lessons with young people on a broader scale beyond the Miami youth baseball fields.

Must listen if you have a kid! Excellent podcast! Each ... episode is a great conversation started for your own family, the subjects they talk about are very relatable and not preachy at all. I love that it’s from the point of view of Nino (a kid), when children hear from other kids the information sticks to them more than when it comes from their parents. Amazing work guys! Can’t wait to hear more episodes!
Great for the whole fam Love this podcast! It’s great to ... listen to for the whole family. One of the best out there!
Nino Great topics discussed with such enthusiasm... between father and son. I was hooked from the first episode, that I download the rest and listen to all episodes on my flight. Amazing father and son relationship that all should aspire to have.
